Prana – the Life Energy
Each living organism is animated by a life-force called prana. This primal life force is indispensable for all movements in the cell, bodily systems and the physical body. The rhythm of the breath influences our thoughts and emotions. Slow and conscious breathing brings oxygen to our blood, regenerates bodily tissues, slows down the oxidative process of cell structures and supports longevity. The life-force or pranic energy, stimulates the digestive fire in the stomach and participates in the transformation of food to energy which in the form of oxidised blood, nourishes all bodily cells, tissues and organs.

In the case of acute flu-like illnesses, the disease is often accompanied by increased temperature or fever and considerable decrease in appetite. This is a natural defensive body principle that activates the immune system for greater activity. Avoiding food at the time of acute ailment enables the digestive fire to eliminate the infection faster. Sufficient intake of warm liquids is important as they have a naturally detoxifying effect. Cold water is not advisable as it produces toxins and weakens the process of digestion.
